Superintendent's Message for September 2018

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Stakeholders of the Southwest Valley School District,

The  2018-2019 school year is off to a great start and the excitement and energy has been very positive.  I have had a chance to visit all the buildings, and it is fun to see our teachers and students interacting in such a positive way.

This year we are trying to communicate in as many ways as possible to reach all our stakeholders.  We will be using Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram on social media to reach you. We have launched a great new website that should be able to provide with you any information you need regarding Southwest Valley Schools.  I will be writing on this blog every month, and I have been sending tweets out on my Twitter account at SWVSUPT18.

We are making a change this year for SWV Homecoming Week.  On Friday, we will be dismissing at noon to allow all our buses to transport our students home safely.  Those choosing to attend the parade in Corning at 2:00 pm will have ample time to get there. There will also be games and activities for students in Central Park after the parade. We hope you can stick around for the game at 7 pm at Wolf Den stadium.

We are also putting in place a new policy for all remaining home games at Wolf Den stadium: all students will need to be seated in the stands during the game and remain there throughout the whole game, except for concessions or restroom trips.  At our first home game, a student was injured while involved in horseplay. Students not following this directive will be asked to leave. We want everyone to be cheering on our Southwest Valley Timberwolves.

Come be a part of the excitement here at Southwest Valley Schools.  If you would like to volunteer or serve on a committee, call the district offices and ask how you can be a part of the team!

Go T’wolves!

Chris Fenster, ED. S

Superintendent
